Edu Injured!!! Out for a Month
By: wan | August 18th, 2008
As if things could not get any worse for Betis, what with the financial situation of the club still uncertain and new players not coming in, now comes the news that Edu is going to be out of action for a month after injuring his hamstring in a friendly against Elche (which Betis won 3-0).
The official word is that Edu has pulled the fibers in his hamstring after undergoing examinations on his right leg.
However in order to understand the severity of the injury Edu will have to perform further tests.Â
This means now that Chaparro will have to face the prospect of playing without Edu for at least 3-4 matches. With no new comers in sight, it means that Betis will probably have to reorganise and look to their reserves for a replacement.
Diego Segura will be a straightforward replacement but the youngster is still untested at the highest level – a more likely candidate will be Caffa but word coming out from the club is that Real Zaragoza is interested in the Argentinian and Betis may cash in on him to fund other purchases.
That leaves Chaparro with no choice but to play Pavone on the right with Jose Mari leading the line. It is likely Pavone will play closer infield to Jose Mari, leaving Emana to plough through on the right.
